My biography
In 2007 was elected to sit within the CORE Communities Delegation at the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria (GTATM). Within the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria sit within the Policy and Portfolio Committee. Former Regional Focal Point for North America at GYCA (Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS) www.youthaidscoalition.org, sit on the advisory committee of PYO (Positive Youth Outreach) and Principle advisory committee on a site that was implemented and developed by and for youth living with HIV/AIDS in Canada www.livepositive.ca. In 2006 was elected as the first youth to sit in the board of Directors at Canadian Treatment Action Council (CTAC). Invited by WHO/UNICEF to Malawi (November 2006) as a youth recipient to participate in a consultation “strengthening the health sector contribution to care, support, treatment & prevention for Young People Living With HIV/AIDS”. Nominated to sit on the Ontario vaccine and prevention technology trials steering committee at the Ontario Vaccine and Prevention Trials Network. In 2006 was elected to sit within the Technical Support Team on Youth Living with HIV/AIDS Policy Group at the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEFs/UNESCOs Inter-agency Task Team on Accelerating HIV Prevention Programming with and for Most-at-Risk- Adolescents. Invited to sit within the UNAIDS and World Bank International Health Systems Strengthening Working Group in 2007. Graduated with honors a B.A. in Policy and Governance from Ryerson University. Marco has advocated & worked extensively to advocate, speak about YLWHAs and youth engagement issues with important decision-makers (governmental, international NGOs, funding agents). UNFPA Short-Term consultant as an HIV/AIDS Eastern Division Mobilization Officer.
