This week in the e-Forum 2008 we are introducing a new question and we expect to hear your experiences about the Global Fund Secretariat, the administrative body of the Global Fund (as stipulated in the Bylaws). The Secretariat is responsible for day-to-day operations, including mobilizing resources from the public and private sectors, managing grants, providing financial, legal and administrative support, and reporting information on the Global Fund's activities to the Board and the public: What are your thoughts regarding the way in which the Secretariat of the Global Fund interacts with and facilitates communication among Global Fund stakeholders?
About 350 employees representing around 80 nationalities work at the Secretariat's headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Though English is the primary working language, many other languages are also spoken by the staff, ranging from the other five official UN languages (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) to dialects from all parts of the world. Less than 3 percent of annual commitments are used for central administration and management of the Global Fund Secretariat each year. How the Global Fund works.
Your answer can include (but does not have to be limited to): your expectations of and experience with the way in which the secretariat communicates with Global Fund stakeholders; the values and principles that the Secretariat should represent; issues of transparency, openness and responsiveness; among others.
Thank you for your commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria!
