Week 4: Summary of discussions: The private sector and the implementation of programs

Locked Contact

How can the Global Fund best promote good practices in involving the private sector in the implementation of programs?

The CCM should become better coordinated so as to create a space for private sector involvement. The CCM and policy makers play a primary role of advocacy and influencing the private sector to be more responsive in terms of corporate social responsibility.

Involvement of the private sector in every phase of the project, including inclusion on implementation boards for the programs in which it has participated.

Improve PSO’s access to good practices for GF project implementation.  Promote the results obtained from private sector investment.

Strengthen the operational and physical capacities of the private sector through the creation of associations and providing training on how to interact with the affected people.

The Global Fund should be able to fund the private sector (directly) with clear budget lines on the use of the funds given. Development of specific guidelines for the private sector in accessing and implementing GF programs.

Private sector could give accountable, institutional, infrastructural support to GF-financed programs.

Define roles so that the support is classified and sectors cooperate fully towards the desired goals. Define strategies for private sector involvement.

The Global Fund should use stricter criteria and mechanisms for more effective monitoring to ensure meaningful participation of the private sector.
