Re: Questions about the MyGlobalFund forums

    Dear Prof. Jama,

Thank you very much for registering in the e-Forum and for posting your first message.

As you may have seen, your post has been moved to the Open Discussions forum as it wasn't responding to the weekly question "Week 2: program oversight and coordination". You can certainly participate of that question, please read the introduction to the implementation theme here: http://myglobalfund.org/forums/p/1613/3200.aspx#3200 , and participate here: http://myglobalfund.org/forums/p/1660/3286.aspx#3286

With reference to the purpose of the forum, please find below the first announcement we sent back in April. Discussions on issues of "gender" and "demand" have taken place in previous weeks/months, and we are not discussing the theme of "implementation of programs".

If you have any other questions do not hesitate to contact us.
    Best regards,
    Marcela

The e-Forum 2008 is now open!

Online discussions that impact on Global Fund
    strategy and policies

Every two years, the Global Fund invites all stakeholders to dialogue and debate on the Global Fund’s performance. The e-Forum is a series of themed on-line discussions about different aspects of the implementation of Global Fund supported programs and the global fight against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. The e-Forum will remain online until 3 October.

The e-Forum is part of the Partnership Forum, held in Dakar 8 - 10 December. Recommendations developed during this process inform decisions taken by the Global Fund Board and have been key to policies and processes over the years.

The theme featured is: Listening to the Voices: Stronger and More Effective Partnership for Sustained Impact. Discussions will focus on increasing gender equity among grant recipients, encouraging more grant applications to address needs, improving the way Global Fund stakeholders work together, and increasing the effectiveness of Global Fund partnerships. One of the major points of reference for these discussions will be the results of the Five Year Evaluation, an external assessment of the Global Fund currently under way.

Starting on Monday 21 April 2008, discussions over the next four weeks will focus on gender. The e-Forum 2008 participants will have the opportunity to provide input into the Global Fund’s gender strategy currently under development.

Participation in the e-Forum is open to anyone who wishes to contribute their view. Previous forums have been driven by comments from grant recipients and people living with the disease, civil society, donors and recipient governments, the private sector including businesses and foundations, board members, development agencies and technical and research agencies. Discussions on the e-Forum are moderated, summarized and translated into four of the United Nations’ official languages: English, French, Spanish and Russian.

The e-Forum is more than a platform for exchange; it impacts on strategy and policy. The e-Forum is hosted on MyGlobalFund.org, a community site of health professionals and people involved in the fight against the world’s three worst pandemics, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. Registration is mandatory for participation.

    Questions about the MyGlobalFund forums

As Prof. Jama Abdullahi Jama, I have the pleasure to appercaite for your encourgement to particiapte for the development of your e-forum, however, I would have like to have understanding what topics to be discussed and specific goal as well as general agenda of the overall program, to combat HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria at Global level, regional mandates and policies towards these areas.

Although, I have been involved youth activities globally, I have seen the HIV/AIDS funds has been divertied into miss appropriate associations managed by unskillfull people, whom are unable to identify the practical stretegical goals for the long renge vision of the programs as well as the short-term action plans.

Since, The Global Fund is is not in ground in the Somalia soil, UNICEF has been mandated to provide substantial supports which mainly, has been modarited by un acceptable personnel and funds have been granted and used for political reasons. I would like to ask your orgainzation why for this are you not aware of it, or you really meant of it.?

If any question or point to be discussed I do agree with you to have the opportunity to fstate to you feel free to contact me, for further clearifications..

    Best regards,

    Prof. Jama Abdullahi (Sh)
