[19 May to 26 May] New discussion theme: Demand

Locked Contact

This week on the e-Forum 2008 we begin discussions on a new theme and we would like to invite you to share your thoughts and experience.

This month’s theme focuses on Demand and the scale-up of programs. Increased efforts of countries and global partners in fighting HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria have saved, extended and improved the lives of many. However, many needs for prevention, treatment and care remain unmet. The Global Fund is currently reviewing the way in which it works to facilitate high-quality programs that are more ambitious and scaled-up. You can help us with your contributions over the next four weeks to better understand the obstacles to scale-up, and to identify effective ways in which the Global Fund and other actors at the international and country level can help to overcome them.

The question for this week is:

What factors in terms of capacity are preventing adequate scale-up to meet demand, and what could the Global Fund and/or its partners do to overcome them?

Your answer could include (but does not have to be limited to): challenges that countries face with their health systems/infrastructure, such as management and coordination of services; availability, skills and motivation of health workers; procurement and distribution systems. You may also want to provide suggestions on what the Global Fund and/or other partners could do to support long-term capacity development.

Participate now!

Thank you!

For your commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. We look forward to reading your contributions to the blogs and forums.
