April: Launch of the e-Forum 2008

The e-Forum 2008 is now open!

Online discussions that impact on Global Fund
strategy and policies

Every two years, the Global Fund invites all stakeholders to dialogue and debate on the Global Fund’s performance. The e-Forum is a series of themed on-line discussions about different aspects of the implementation of Global Fund supported programs and the global fight against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. The e-Forum will remain online until 3 October.

The e-Forum is part of the Partnership Forum, held in Dakar 8 - 10 December. Recommendations developed during this process inform decisions taken by the Global Fund Board and have been key to policies and processes over the years.

The theme featured is: Listening to the Voices: Stronger and More Effective Partnership for Sustained Impact. Discussions will focus on increasing gender equity among grant recipients, encouraging more grant applications to address needs, improving the way Global Fund stakeholders work together, and increasing the effectiveness of Global Fund partnerships. One of the major points of reference for these discussions will be the results of the Five Year Evaluation, an external assessment of the Global Fund currently under way.

Starting on Monday 21 April 2008, discussions over the next four weeks will focus on gender. The e-Forum 2008 participants will have the opportunity to provide input into the Global Fund’s gender strategy currently under development.

Participation in the e-Forum is open to anyone who wishes to contribute their view. Previous forums have been driven by comments from grant recipients and people living with the disease, civil society, donors and recipient governments, the private sector including businesses and foundations, board members, development agencies and technical and research agencies. Discussions on the e-Forum are moderated, summarized and translated into four of the United Nations’ official languages: English, French, Spanish and Russian.

The e-Forum is more than a platform for exchange; it impacts on strategy and policy. The e-Forum is hosted on MyGlobalFund.org, a community site of health professionals and people involved in the fight against the world’s three worst pandemics, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. Registration is mandatory for participation.
