    Rethinking the Partnership Forum

    PartnersGF - 2004-11-04

Welcome back to the PartnersGF eForum!

As you probably know, Health and Development Networks (HDN) started a project in support of the Global Fund Partnership Forum earlier this year. The goal of the project has been to support and encourage input and recommendations for the Partnership Forum (PF) through a set of online discussions using this PartnersGF email forum.

HDN is currently re-defining the project focus and direction to one that is more independent of the Global Fund and more critically focused on the role of civil society and its contribution to the performance of the Fund.

We would like to thank all members who sent in comments on the Global Fund Partnership Forum over the last few weeks, and would like to inform you that we plan to share with you the comments over the coming days, with the hope that they will prompt further comments and contributions. As you will soon see, the general trends emerging from comments received so far are that:

    * The Partnership Forum gave stakeholders a voice and provided insight into the work of the Global Fund
    * Governments were poorly represented, and there was, overall, unbalanced participations
    * Malaria and Tuberculosis (TB) were under-emphasized, with the primary focus being on HIV/AIDS
    * The Partnership Forum event in Bangkok was not as transparent as expected.

For further details about the Partnership Forum and HDN’s PF-related project, please go to:

We thank you in advance for your participation on this eForum, and look forward to hearing from you.
