Re: Week 7: recommendations for the next e-Forum

I am surprised that today,2008,there is still stigma and discrimination on PLHIV in some countries. This calls on the GF and other stakeholders to come up with a framework for intervention because we cannot continue like this.Just like some contributors(Thanks Dr. Cheena) have suggested, there is need for creation of NGOs and CSOs forum in all countries, strengthen the network and beef up advocacy and lobbying for equal treatment, care and support for PLHIV in countries where stigma still exists.Strengthened networks will lead to collective action strong voice to have policies that apply to all.GF has the resources ( the forum members can and would be willing to assist and support the work on this i presume) to put a forum in place Wea re in it together...shall we sit on the fence?...Thank you...

Re: Week 7: recommendations for the next e-Forum

As e-forum by its title suggests that it is web based forum which tries to get various opinions and suggestions from the people from different regions of the world. This kind of e-discussion might be a great effort to make people aware of current and prevailing diseases in the world. But in the developing countries like Nepal, such discussions could be made successful only if we could carry out such events in the local population. So, in my opinion, GF should give priorities to the works that are community focused.

Re: Week 7: recommendations for the next e-Forum

Dear all,
My main suggestion for the next e-forum is that Global Fund must create a network of NGOs/CSOs all around the world, particularly those active in the regions that are heavily burdened with AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis. For successfully meeting the objectives of the Global Fund, it is imperative that such organizations (primarily NGOs) in different parts of the world hold hands and work together in thrashing out the menace of these diseases from the face of the Earth. Sharing knowledge and expertise could be the hallmark in reaching out to the millions in the third world affected by these diseases. This would include joint, concerted action for disease diagnosis and provision of treatment at an affordable cost. Last but not the least, prevention of these diseases is very important, for which again joint action is needed for public awareness anf advocacy programmes. Once such an international consortium of world NGOs is created, I am sure  the objectives of theGlobal Fund could be realized sooner than later.

Re: Week 7: recommendations for the next e-Forum

I believe the GF can make meaningful impact on the fight against HIV,TB and Malaria if this information and contributions (the weekly summaries)are shared with other stakeholders and partners working in HIV&AIDS,Malaria and TB ie the CSOs,governments, and communities through the Community Based Organizations and Structures, the private sector among others. This can also be done through the media both electronic and print which can be put in use to fight HIV,Malaria and TB,to highlight and intervene on the burden of community and home based care to women and girls, promote prevention, counselling,Treatment Care and Support. In this way a wider scope will be reached with information hence positive impact since people will be operating from the know. I also believe peoples' contributions are important and are diverse because they are based on work and experiences in their working areas, regions and countries. They should be an addition to the wider community(global village) thought forms in interventions.Shared learning is very important...it makes it all so participatory and should be disseminated to relevant stakeholders...including non forum members... Thank you fellow professionals...we are in it together...

Dear members, Global fund should in the next e-forum allow people to express their opinion freely without any intimidation from any members of the facilitating team as well as other members of the e-forum Global fund should in the next e-forum think of motivating members There should be protection of the people views On the support fom the technical team there should be a way of joining the discussion room without necessarily requiring password because here i have been exoerincing the problem of change in my password Otherwise the e-forum is a very good ideas for members to share experiences, views, lesson learnt Thans Collins Kidega
