Question:
Dear Fund Manager,
What is the minimum and maximum amount that an organization can solicit
One Country?
Multiple Countries?
Many thanks.
Response:
Thank you for your e-mail and your interest in working with the Global Fund. In response to your inquiry on how much funding an organization may solicit, we would like to share with you the following information on the proposal submission process for the Global Fund:
- Applicants may apply for funding from the Global Fund by responding to a 'Call for Proposals'. Round 8 was launched on 1 March 2008. All relevant forms are currently available on the Global Fund website (http://www.theglobalfund.org/en/apply/call8/).
- Typically, the Global Fund only receives proposals which have been developed through a consultative, multi-stakeholder process, and clearly demonstrate that they are in line with the country’s national disease prevention and control plans. This process would normally occur through the collaboration of an in-country group called the 'Country Coordinating Mechanism' (CCM). We encourage you to available on the Global Fund website and found at this link: http://www.theglobalfund.org/programs/search.aspx?search=4&lang=en.
- The Global Fund only provides financial support directly to NGOs in very limited circumstances. These exceptions are explained in the Round 8 Guidelines for Proposals. You will find this information at: http://www.theglobalfund.org/documents/rounds/8/GuidelinesR8_single_en.pdf.
- We also suggest that you read our 'Frequently Asked Questions' to more fully understand the Global Fund’s proposal process. These 'FAQs' are available at the following link: http://www.theglobalfund.org/en/apply/call8/other/#1
- In response to your specific question, there are no set minimum and maximum amounts that may be solicited by an organization, regardless of whether they are a single country or multi country applicant. Rather, the Global Fund encourages you to liaise with your country’s CCM and develop a funding request that takes in to account the country-specific priorities for fighting these three diseases and subsequently the gaps in available funds within the country. However, it should be noted that under the revised eligibility rules (as set out in the Round 8 Guidelines) lower-middle income applicants cannot request an amount that exceeds 65% of their overall disease program need. Likewise, upper-middle income applicants cannot request an amount that exceeds 35% of their overall disease program need.
We trust you will find this information helpful, please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any further queries.
Yours sincerely,
